The link was helpful, but, I have seen these in my 60csx in years past and I can't remember how I got them in there.  Maybe using that "ximage" program?

I don't know what happened to my Garmin stuff since November last, but, I definitely used the red circle and blue circle waypoints in MS and transferred them to my device and then road my motorcycle thousands of miles and saw every one.

Now, when I choose the red circle from either MS or BC and transfer that point to my unit, it comes in as a blue flag (I know what that means.)

I created some waypoints to use in deer hunting, saw them in MS AND saw them in my 60csx AND followed them in the woods.  Now, for some reason, they can't be seen in my 60csx.  The ONLY thing I could have POSSIBLY done different is create new maps on my SD  card and that alone should not change what I had before.  The waypoints on my 60csx do not come from the maps transfered from MS or BC.   I have been doing using these devices for years...some have over 120000 miles on the ODO...just frickin boggles my mind right now.....

Hello, Back in 2013, I made myself some custom waypoints.  Nothing fancy (used in deer hunting....some water, some blood-looking drops, some silly circle with an orange X through it...stuff like that)  I used these in MapSource and can see them now as waypoints when I bring up those old files.  I have the same GPS unit (trusty 60csx) and the only thing different is my map is now 2018.1 instead of 2013.2.  However that may be, I can still see them in my Map Source if I elect to change the symbol. 

I cannot for the life of me remember where I got those symbols into either MapSource or my unit.  I'm pretty sure I learned that technique here as I really go no other places for anything related to my Garmin stuff.

Can you point me in a direction to edit my waypoint symbols?

Agree on the 60csx compared to today's market.  My first one has turned over twice.  I run it alongside my phone as I ride.  Funny.....the Google Girl sure does argue a lot with that old 60csx.  She doesn't even give a second thought to the fact that it was born "without a tongue" to argue back.  :-)

My son has a etrex 30x and is wondering if his track data can be saved to the SD card like on my old 60csx to be later read with BaseCamp and MapSource.  Can you advise?  Thank you.

Yes, I am still using my 60csx for my long distance motorcycle challenges all over the USA!  I love that unit!  Probably why I owe three!  :-)

maybe it's a windows issue.  I run XP and windows 7.  In Win 7, at track properties, I see my speed per length of leg.  I don't see that in the same file on the Windows XP.

Been awhile since I been here....

If I recall correctly, Mapsource used to show me the MPH in the track properties box after double-clicking a recorded track.  That information is no longer showing in the track properties window.  Only shows location, leg length, and leg time.  I know it used to because I could tell on what stretch of road I went a certain speed......

Is there a setting I have unchecked either in MS or on my unit?

Is there a setting somewhere to make the waypoints jive between Mapsource and Google Earth?  Mapsource set to NAD27 CONUS.

I just ckecked this with BaseCamp and it was pretty much dead on.  I am certain I don't have loaded the current version of Base Camp either.  I like Mapsource over Base Camp for what I do and was wondering if I could make it more accurate with some setting.

I make a new track in Map Source, send it to Dakota 20, and it does not appear on my map.  I see it in the list, Show On Map is enabled.

Any insight just before deer hunting?

EDit:  I have done this before with other Dakota 20's at deer camp (made the hunting boundary as a track, then uploaded it to their unit and it worked fine.  With this man's Dakota 20, it is not working.  Not real familiar with the Dakota 20, but always want to help others.

If you can find a suitable map in IMG format it can be downloaded to the GPSr, but finding the map may be a problem.  There are a couple of land ownership maps on this site you may want to check out.  Don't know how specific they are to hunting.

What he is talking about is a track that I make indicating our hunting boundaries.  If these guys don't have something like this to guide them, they will be knocking on the National Guard Military Base's front door dressed in orange and toting a rifle.

Thanks for the links and information.  As stated above, I am leaning towards the 450 and I just might have to git me one of them thar touchy screeny thingamajigs one day soon.

I'm surprised if his 76 is working that it gets him lost.  Do you know what kind of failures he was experiencing?

He gets lost because he's Uncle Jim.  Quite a funny thing each year in Grayling, MI.  Sometimes he heads off with someone else's rifle, his car alarm goes off at 5am when he tries to unlock his vehicle in the cold mornings and hits the wrong button, and you always want to get in the breakfast line before Uncle Jim as he seems to take a great portion of the meal.  Classic was coming up to my blind one morning looking for his.  Told him his was "over there."  He walks off.  10 minutes later, I hear him outside my blind saying, "Finally, I found it!"  "Nope.  Still my blind, Uncle Jim."  We are going to attach a 12' 2x4 to him so he has to walk straight (bungie cords have been discussed also.)

He is looking to upgrade his "76" (that's what it is) and I'm doing all I can to help him out.  He has been one fun Uncle Jim at deer camp for the past 23 years.

Here is what he sent me: (the boundary lines he mentions are what I put on other's GPSr's because we hunt on a preserve with only certain areas open to hunting.)

Mike- This list is not in concrete.  Please advise any changes or additions you might suggest.  I certainly can afford a good one, but I`d consider it a waste of money to buy one only to want another soon thereafter.

Thanks so much for your time amd input.  I am curious how you use your GPS every day.  I use a larger GPS to travel with!

Oh, and THANK YOU for showing me the differences between the 450 and the 450t.  This sounds like a good device and since my 60Csx might one day die on me, I am inclined to get this one to replace it.

Asking for good old "Uncle Jim" from our deer camp.  He would like something new and I suggested the Oregon 450 or 450t.  He has a very old Garmin 78 (I think) and it gets him lost every year.  He is somewhat GPSr knowledgeable and understands how the buttons and pages work.

What are the major differences between the Oregon 450 and 450t?
