Select view, then Switch to Product, installed maps are listed. OR, under the main menu items in the upper left corner is a rectangular  bar, (icon) select it and the same list is displayed.
applies to mapsource.

GPSr Units / Re: Installing Multiple Maps 60csx
May 28, 2010, 12:47:59 PM
You are right and wrong both. Multiple maps that you make or download from this site can be placed together on one card. The maps you buy/download from Garmin can not be put together with other maps and then loaded on your GPSr. However (someone correct me if I'm wrong) maps that you purchase from garmin on CD can be coupled with other maps (there are some limitations) . The main thing to remember is that the maps are placed in one. img file for access by the GPSr

If you select both the Topo map and the trail map in mapsource (left pane will show what you selected) and upload both to the 60CSx the trail data that is available should show along with the Topo.

Like the controls on the bottom and the screen on top. Must be some reason they retained it besides cost. Ref. earlier discussion on this aspect.

I have not made any study of this but when going cross country I usually turn my 60CSx off after checking my location and depend on a compass for awhile. Same thing if I'm on the ATV but don't need the compass because of trails/roads. End result I would guess is a lot more usage time is gained by this method. I do always carry spare batts though just in case. I have certainly cycled on/off many more than 10-12 times.

If you should decide to tackle your own map it's not extremly difficult. Free software needed GPSmapedit, MapSetToolKit, CGPSMapper, all of which have links on this site. A good tutorial also is avaiable here which contains lots of steps that you can omit since you will be using only tracks, routes and waypoints. (you just load that data (gpx) in mapedit after downloading it from your GPSr to mapsource or basecamp. You will end up with a simple line map that can be displayed on top of other maps, say a topo. If you get started and stuck lots of folks here will help.
Good Luck

Is it possible you are still missing the point. You say you downloaded the NW Topo and installed it. If you download it and select run-IT INSTALLS ITSELF. There is nothing you need to do at that point, just open mapsource and select the map to display it. Why not try Basecamp, it is a simple download directly from Garmin and is intended to eventually replace mapsource.

There is another way to tackle the problem if you are doing alot of this in a given day.  Enable your track log and it will record a days movement. If you turn it off and on at the breaks in the wall it will not record those sections but will pick up at the next point it is turned on at. you can use this on off process all day long and have none track log. the other process would be to make a map of all your routes/tracks.

Your 60CSx will only load 20 tracks at a time. If you have more than that in mapsource when you update it will stop inputting tracks when it hits 20. What is more than likly happening is as you check off one to be displayed you  uncheck another without knowing it. Can get no more than the 20 tracks to display at a time, in fact it seems to me it will only load that original 20.

When you load a new map into the GPSr this way you will overwrite the map previously loaded. You are loading a file that has the same name as the one loaded before it, so it overwrites.
In mapsource select the maps you wish to have on the GPSr (or the tiles from various maps.) Using the map tool select from one map, bring up another map and select the parts (or whole)  that you want from that one. contintue from any maps you wnat to input to the GPSr. In the left pane in mapsource it will show how much and what you have selected. All this automatically placed in the GPSmap file and uploaded at one time to your GPsr. The key to remember is that all maps are set in one mapset prior to placement in the GPSr.

GPSr Units / Button placement VS touch screens
April 26, 2010, 07:51:57 AM
Seems upside down to me. as you hold it and use your input buttons your hand/hands will quite likely cover part of the screen. thats the feature I like best on the 60CSx, the screen is right there as you work thru settings.
