GPSr Units / Garmin 62S-Invalid JNX File
January 05, 2012, 01:01:11 PM
I am really excited about my new Garmin 62s.  I have used a 60CSX for a long time and am very pleased with it too.    But I have a small problem with the 62s that I cannot fix and need some help.  Each time I turn on my new 62s, I get the following message, "Invalid JNX file."  I press OK and move on.  But I would like to fix whatever is wrong and not get this annoying message anymore.  Does anyone have a solution for this issue?  Thanks in Advance

GPSr Units / Using GPS on Commercial Airlines
March 01, 2010, 02:45:05 PM
Last week as I flew from Miami to Portland, Oregon I was surprised when the American Airlines stewardess told me that I was not allowed to use my GPS while the plane was in the air.  I was trying to determine where we were, how fast we were flying and our altitude.  I chose not to debate the issue with the stewardess and put my GPS away.  Has anyone else on this site experienced similar warnings?

In a few weeks I am traveling to the Virgin Islands.  I downloaded the appropriate maps and placed them into my Garmin Folder.  Then I used MapSource to open the file named "US TerritoriesProtectorates.rar."  When I tried to open the file in MapSource I get the message "XXX.RAR is not a valid MapSource file and could not be opened."  Once I get it opened, I want to download it to my 60CSX.  That part I know how to do.  It appears that I need to convert the file to a different extension.  Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

GPSr Units / Altitude question using 60 CSX
October 17, 2009, 01:53:34 PM
On a recent plane ride I noticed that my 60 CSX was giving me the "altitude" inside the pressurized cabin of the airplane (about 5000 feet) when we were actually at 35000 feet.  I want to reprogram the 60 CSX so it measures altitude (above 15000 feet) using the GPS and below 15000 feet using the barometer.  How do I do that?
Thanks in advance

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Using City Select V6
August 28, 2009, 03:15:31 PM
When I purchased my old Garmin GPS 5, I bought a copy of City Select N.A. V6 along with it.  I used to load maps to the GPS 5 regularly with no problem.  Now I have moved on and am using a Garmin 60CSX.  When I load my good old City Select N.A. V6, I get a message that the 60 CSX cannot unlock the maps.  Was the City Select N.A. V 6 "associated" with my GPS 5 in some way?  Will I have to purchase another copy of City Select N.A. to use with my 60 CSX?  Or can I "disassociate" my copy of City Select from my GPS 5 and then "associate" it with my new 60 CSX?  Thanks in advance for you help.  Byron
