New and need some help

Just downloaded the mississippi topo maps, but i cant open them,it says it is an img file, and i am trying to get them on a garmin etrex legend hcx and have now clue what i am doing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The instruction are vastly different depending on what type of computer system you have, maybe you can shed a little light on what you're using?

Windows vista, just dont know how to get it on my gps. It is like 20 different folders

My gps takes a micro sd card, so do i copy all the files to the card and put in the gps, then what

Not if you want it to work.

1. You should install the software on the CD that came with your GPSr; MapSource Trip & Waypoint Manager.
2. Install the update to MapSource:
http://www8.garmin.com/software/MapSource_6157.exe
3. Download the TOPO map (I assume you have done that already?)
4. Install the downloaded maps into MapSource by double clicking the .exe file you downloaded.
5. Open MapSource and follow the tutorial we have posted here:
