Basecamp/Custom Map Questions

I have an Oregon 550, and I want to update the firmware.  However, it warns me that I must follow a certain procedure if I ever want to use Basecamp in the future.  Currently I use an old version of Mapsource, 6.13.7.

I also have several custom maps installed in Mapsource, most of them downloaded from this site, but a few from external sources and a few of my own.

I have downloaded and installed Basecamp, but it errors on the Montana topo (from the link on this page here  http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/3/  ).  It tells me to remove that map and start Basecamp again.  I can't say that I really want to remove that map, because it will remove it from Mapsource as well.  I vaguely recall there being an issue with the family or product ID, but can't remember what it was.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the map to work in Basecamp, or make it so that Basecamp can't see it but Mapsource can?

Thanks!

I just downloaded MTtopo_Install.exe, from IndyJPR's site and it installed an runs fine in all my Garmin viewers.  It might help to upgrade MapSource and re-install MT topo.

I'm running MapSource 6.16.3, BaseCamp 3.2.2, and MapSource 6.13.7 on my Win7-64 bit machine.
To run both versions of MapSource, rename the 6.13.7 version .EXE file to something else like MapSource6137.exe, before you upgrade.

I'm not sure what will happen to older Product ID maps, but if they're your own, you could always re-compile them using a family ID.

Another thing the OP could try is to look at her mapsets with MapSetToolKit.  FIDs and product codes are listed there.  If there's a conflict, uninstall one the conflicting map and assign it another FID.

Thank you all for the suggestions.  I have MapsetToolkit so will start with the FID's that are assigned first.

Just an update - I noticed there was an updated version of the MT Topo map, so I uninstalled my old one, downloaded, and installed the new one.  It now works fine with both Mapsource and Basecamp.  (I did use MapsetToolkit to look at the FID, and it was 46XX for the original version, and 1 for the new one.)  I don't know what the cutoff number is for the FID, but all is good now.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

That would be the first thing to check. Good that there was an updated version for you.
