Title: Philmont Image File
Post by: thoover1968 on August 02, 2017, 01:56:10 PM
I am trying to get the image file for the Philmont trails.  I can't find the free software to convert the files.  Can someone point me to either the image file, the free software to convert the file to an image, or the software to purchase (if no longer free)?

I leave for Philmont in a little over a day.  Early morning on 8/4/17.

Thanks!!

Terry

I can't quite understand what you're asking here. What exactly is the "Philmont Trails"? Is that a map posted on this site? What state is it in? Can you post a link to the file?

If you are talking about .img files, those are used in Garmin's proprietary software. They do not contain "images", they contain computer instructions for drawing a map on the GPS screen. They can also be used in Garmin's free Basecamp software on your computer.

Maybe you can explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish a little more clearly and then we can help.

Do you want to use this map on a Garmin GPS? If so, what model? Or do you want to print a paper map?
