Maybe there was a big snowstorm that covered up all the trails?  ;D

Seriously, that map is not hosted at GPSFileDepot and it looks like the link to the map no longer works. Here is the site where the map is hosted. I suggest that you contact them, since it is their map: http://gpssledmaps.com/

But based on what it says on the home page, it looks like the Wisconsin map is no longer available and you must now purchase their US map

All of our US state maps have been combined into a single USA map, for the same price of $39.95. Now routable across states too!

Might be a good idea for Oz to change or remove the listing for that map...

I would agree, not only for this map but for any maps that aren't free.  I have no problem with someone wanting to charge for their maps,  but do their advertising on their own site; unless Oz is getting paid to sponsor their link on here.

I have 16 maps on here that I've made for my own personal use and gladly share them, freely, with anyone else they may help.

http://gpssledmaps.com/ still list the free single state maps on the top of their homepage, maybe they are in the process of working on their website?

Maybe you should be aware that it was Oz that posted the link to the snowmobile maps.

Must be, because none of the links on their site under "free maps" work.  None of the links under "support" work either. Then if you go to their forum, all of the posts are from spammers and have nothing to do with maps.  >:( http://gpssledmaps.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=c055b33edc00e810a61e4df954820e7c

Definitely some issues on that site. All the maps I've posted here are free as well, but I don't really have an issue with people posting commercial maps (although it wouldn't bother me if they went away either). From the beginning, there was always a field where you could fill in the cost of your map when you post it here.

The link for the Free Maps on http://gpssledmaps.com/ still works if you first go to the Forum link and then go to the Free Maps link; then the download is available for the maps.  Unfortunately, it appears the Free Maps link now is charging for all of the maps.

As I've mentioned before, I have no problem with anyone charging for their maps when they've done all the data collecting and compiling and have the expense of advertising.  In the case of GPSSledMaps.com they specifically ask, on their home page in 2 locations, for riders to send their tracks to them so they can include them on their own maps (obviously they want them for free) and  now they are charging for the map.  On their Wisconsin Snowmobile Maps page they state, "The snowmobile trails included were recorded by individual snowmobilers, and then edited and compiled by us."

When Oz originally posted the link on Aug. 17, 2008, the Wisconsin Snowmobile map was free.  It was not until Dec. 1, 2011 that it appears that they started charging for their maps.

GPSFileDepot is a GREAT site to help others and freely share maps.  How would it be if we all started charging for our maps?  Personally, I think it would loose most of it's interest.  This is why I'm so opinionated about keeping maps and map links off of this website that are not free, and we all know what opinions are worth, HaHa.  Let's keep sharing and helping others with similar interest.

Just getting the white page, care to provide a link where one might download?

Here, http://gpssledmaps.com/maps/wi.php and over on the right side are the actual downloads for the maps.  Even though the mentioned above link references Garmin the actual map download appears to be for Magellan.  If you go and click the Garmin link on the left of the page it takes you to the Garmin US Sled Map download.

I'm just getting a white page, the same issue as the original post.

PS: Just checked this link on my iPhone, blank white page...

I am getting the blank page also. But if you view the page source, there is definitely something there. Maybe a browser issue, I'm doing this in safari on my Mac.

Yep, browser issue. my old version of Firefox on the same Mac shows the page. Maybe because I have disabled Java in Safari?

Snowrider: are you using Safari on a Mac?

With all the spam on their forum I wonder if their site has been highjacked, think I'll leave javascript off, don't need any kooties on my workstation  :)

Don't know what to tell you.  Are you opening the "Forum" page first and then going to the "Free Maps" link at the top of the Forum page?  I'm able to get to their download page using the link in my post.

Yes, that is what I saw using Firefox. But with Safari, it's just a blank page.

I contacted gpssledmaps and received the following response:

Thanks so much - yes, gpssledmaps.com has been ignored while we've been working on redpinemapping.com and our new iPhone app.  It's on our list to fix it!
So, it you are able to download their free mapsets, great. If not, remember that patience is a virtue.

Hello Guys,

So, I justed checked the same page that you guys had mentioned earlier, the "gpssledmaps.com" site.  If you check the source code for the blank pages you can see the text is indeed embedded into the pages.  So, out of curiosity, I used a Virtual Machine (virtual OS install) with Internet Explorer 6 that I keep around for legacy software.  Guess what, the pages displayed perfectly!

So, out of curiosity, I downloaded firefox 2.0.0.20 from portableapps.com and did an extraction to a new folder on my desktop (portable apps version are non-install versions which means you can delete the folder afterwards with nothing extra left on your computer).

So, I loaded the page up and everything on the page displayed perfectly.  The page must be built using legacy html code, I did not too inspect too closely into the code to find out what the exact display issue is.

Living in Wisconsin I downloaded the Wisconsin 2009 free maps and loaded it into basecamp.  Everything worked perfectly!  They seem to be missing big parks of Marathon County but considering they are free, I can not complain.

You can find the portable apps version of firefox @:  portableapps. c o m /apps/internet/firefox_portable (just copy and paste to your browser and remove the extra spaces)  Just scroll down the page to find the legacy listing and 2.0.0.20, which worked for me.  Just don't go web browsing all over the place with 2.0.0.20 as I am sure their are several known web browser exploits by this time.

Also, you can not have regular firefox and portable versions open at the same time so, close your regular firefox install when you try to open the portable version open or the portable version will not work!

Keep away from the forum page also with firefox 2.0.0.20 portable, it does appear that sometime in early 2012 some web bots found a way to take over the forum.  I would not be surprised if one of the links has some crazy old school firefox 2.0.0.20 web exploits linked from it.
