Hello :)
I have a prebuilt gpsmapsupp.img file (if I got that right) that I built some time ago for a 60csx.
It contains CityNavigator with routing data, and also a custom topographic map, all in one image.

For the 60csx, I could just write that to the SD card, and that's the end of the story.

Now I have an older GPS that I'd like to load the same image to if that's possible.
It's a StreetPilot III with Garmin data card, and only a serial interface.
Is there a tool that will bypass Mapsource, and just serially send the prebuilt file?

I do own license for all of this. The image was originally done with my own CityNavigator,
and I can't actually remember how I got the extra custom map into the same image (maybe MapSource supported that).

Cheers, Brek.

Map Making Support / Copy GPX waypoints to new map?
December 06, 2017, 03:41:37 AM
Hi Guys :)
I have a GPS track log file full of waypoints that opens with GPSMapEdit software,
but I'm wondering if there's a way to import that as map POIs to be exported as a map?

Right now, the only way I can see to do it is to create new points manually using the GPX
file points as an overlay, but there are many points.

Map Making Support / Simplifying World Map
January 22, 2017, 05:16:55 PM
Greetings from Australia folks :) This is my first post here.

My question relates specifically to the World topo map available here,
of which I think there is only one. It comes in two packages for East and West parts of the world.

I'm writing GPS software for a relatively small screen, and was hoping to use this world outline for a basemap.
I have stripped the low zoom image down with Cgpsmapper to just the line type 0x15
(for shorelines), so it's just the simple continent outlines that are left on the map.

The problem is the map is still far too detailed, and I was hoping there's a way in Cgps mapper, to lower it's resolution (number of points) automatically.
I have found a feature called "Generalise" which does that, but not significantly,
and you can only use it once on a map. There are still a few tens of thousands of lines.

One obvious way would be to retrace the map with simpler lines, or to delete a bunch of existing points,
but it would be ideal if there was an automated way.
Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers, Brek.
