Memory usage on an Old Legend

I have an OLD legend that I have been playing with and wanted to add some TOPO maps, the question concens the amount of free memory, the unit should have about 24MB but when I try to add maps , Mapsoure reports that I only have 7.97 MB available. Any ideas on how to free up more memory???

I got a Legend C when it came out, and that had 24MB memory. I believe that was a "first" for the Legend series...
