MapSetToolKit results in cpreview error

Aiming to process .img files to MapSource. Installed free versions of cGPSmapper 0098e and MapSetToolKit 1.62. Using the "Product" rather than "Family", as no .typ file. Followed MapSetToolKit tutorials carefully, but every time I press the Start button, a cGPSmapper window opens then immediately I get warning message "cpreview.exe - Application Error...The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d). Click on OK to terminate" ..... then a MapSetToolKit warning that "Convert failed". It has created a short .pv file.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I have tried it with a number of different .img files, even reloaded all the software, rebooting in case that was needed after installation, but always the same error.

Use family rather than product; Garmin changed how things work and I bet cgpsmapper changed as well so product may not work anymore.

I only use family anymore.

I have now tried this, but still get the same error message. I don't know what the .typ file does, but I thought that without one the "family" option was not relevant? Do I need to find a way to create such a .typ file?

I did not compile the .img file myself, I was using the Bernese Oberland map from:

A this is a single file I have now successfully adopted the alternative approach of transferring the file direct to my GPS using a simple application from http://www.img2gps.co.cc/ but without going through Mapsource. The only drawback is that I cannot see the maps on my PC, but the really important objective of navigating in the mountains has been achieved.

I will end it there, and maybe get back to the links to Mapsource at another time.
