So i need to get some maps for peru for my oregon 450t. I have a .gpx and a .kmz versions of the trail routes. My problem is i can't for the life of me figure out how to get a good map to lay these coordinates over that will show up in the gps. Is there any way to take a google map terrain screen and import it into my gps. google earth would be okay as well. I am a total noob and this is probably a dumb question but I just would love to be able to hike the area with some more detailed maps than just the blank maps that are available in the general garmin world map.

Yes, on the Oregon these are called "custom maps". See Garmin's instructions here: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/onthetrail/custommaps

It will be easier to use a program that is designed for this purpose though, such as: http://topofusion.com/garmin-custom-maps.php or http://moagu.com/?page_id=155

been playing around with that and keep having trouble making sure the scales stay the same and shaping the map to the area in google earth. ill keep playing with it and see where i can get. any tips would be great. ive been usuing the windows 7 snipping tool to make the jpgs from google maps since there are not really any good maps for the area.
