This is my first GPSR and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get the unit in to "interface mode" to access files on the SD card directly???  Thanks in advance.

Don't own one, but if it's anything like the 60CSX, which it resembles, you want to set it to "mass storage mode".  Keystrokes: Menu|Menu|(rocker down to select)Setup|(rocker right to select)Interface|(rocker down to select) USB Mass Storage.
