Forest shading on Garmin topo maps?

I noticed that.  Seems getting something to look better results in something else going wacko.

So true. I just did this comparison showing roads in my core area of interest in the Pine Barrens. The black and white roads are unchanged TIGER data. I have reclassified the green roads (for example, changed a residential road to a dirt road). The pink roads have been redrafted from scratch after deleting the existing wrong TIGER roads. I used Globalmapper to overlay my road data on both USGS 24k quads and 2007 NJ Othoimagery.

Of course there is no end to a project like this once you start, but I am taking a break for awhile. :)
