Is there any value to sequential Image ID numbers in a gridded map set?

When I use GM to generate a grid of map tiles it automatically generates a sequential set of Image IDs for the MP files.

When I use GM to edit those MPs a second or third time it generates a new Image ID for each tile I export back to MP.  I thought if I didn't use the template during the export I could suppress the new numbering, but that didn't work.  So now I've got a set of Image IDs that are all out of sequence.  Would that be a problem for mapsets uploaded to GPSfiledepot?

I'm using GM for the edits because its global search and edit features are more versatile than GPSMapedit, which would preserve all the header info.

The only way I've figured to suppress the automatic Image ID numbering feature in GM is to manually enter a number in the export box.  If anyone else has a better way, I'd appreciate a tip.

I usually ID & name my maptiles per the co=ords of the SW corner of the tile. That way I know what are the tile covers per the file name or the display name in the gps.
