Is there a list around for selecting type for POIs? I have several shapefiles where I'm having to select less than optimal types.

Maybe a custom type would be better. Thoughts?

I picked and chose off the cgpsmapper's types; which I have conviently posted for you: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/cgpsmapper_types.pdf

I just started getting into custom types; worked really well for Wyoming.

That is a lot of point types.  There was one generic "point" that I was using for most of them.

You can only have as many custom types as current types exist.

that is pretty nifty.

I actually used GenTyp (http://cypherman1.googlepages.com/genTYP) and just imported my files into that.

I have been really curious about MapWel to see if I could have "licensed" maps without the large price of cgpsmapper.

The is pretty neat (MapWel). Not sure if GenTyp allowed more than 2 colors (granted I only tested with two colors).

Yea, the manual is good although it was missing a few things I really want to know about (Dictionary headers for example).

Yea, which is pretty cheap.

The issue was that last time I checked you had to use cgpsmapper to make it so they could be installed in MapSource (the preview files and all that).
