Hi,
I have created an own-compiled map for my garmin 60CS and used it for many years. It has worked perfectly and now I have upgraded to the Oregon 550. My custom maps seems to work perfectly on the 550 also, but the other day I decided to try to use a TYP file in order to have my map points a bit more realistic (its a map that I use when flying).

When I lodad the map into the 550 I found an odd behaivour: When klicking MAP button on the main menu, my map is shown as expected with my custom symbols, see screendump:

but, when I pan the map the 550 displays the original symbol over my custom ones, screendump:

I was expecting that it should stick to my symbols all the time. I tried this on my old 60CS, and on that unit my custom symbols was displayed all the time. Note that this seems only to affect points. Lines and polygons works ok (orange dotted lines, and red-striped-areas in the screenshot)

Anyone having the same experience? Is it a bug in the 550 firmware?

Best regards

If you are using MapSetToolKit did you check the box for Blank Overview Map?  I have seen 2 polylines for the same track at certain zoom levels if this box is not checked.  This may not be your problem but I thought I'd mention it as a possiblilty.

Also, you may try zooming into 20ft on one of the points using GPSMapEdit to be sure you don't accidentially have 2 points for the same location (one on top of the other).  Have seen that happen, too.

Thanks,
I've attached the TYP-file (both source and compiled) to my original posting.

Best regards
