I just bought a Garmin GPS map276cx and can not install Bob T's West Virginia Trails 2018 Public maps on the unit nor any of his others. I have installed Garmin Express and Basecamp yet no luck. do I need to install a Micro card? Can anyone help? I have gone as far as removing the programs from the computer and reinstalling them. I have a 62s and had no problems loading them on to it. Anyone near Galax,Va I would be glad to meet for help.

Check your version of Basecamp/MapInstall. The versions currently available on Garmin's site - Basecamp 4.7 / MapInstall 4.2 - do not work properly. Most likely, this is your problem. See this: https://forums.gpsfiledepot.com/index.php?topic=4539.0

I checked Boyd and it is version 4.7 the latest version. Still confused

That's the problem, your version of Garmin's software does not work with third party maps such as GPSFileDepot. I think this is just a bug, but some people think it was intentional. Either way, Garmin doesn't seem to be in any rush to fix this.

So you will have to either use Garmin's old software - Mapsource (Windows only) or an older version of Basecamp/MapInstall. Here's a link to download an older version of the software that should work.

But see the thread in my link above, especially reply #13 by 93ToyTruck, there may be issues with un-installing the new version of MapInstall

Boyd, I've gone as far as bringing my system to two computer repair shops and they can't get it to work. They tried your link sent and it locked up. Any other suggestions ? Or do you know anyone in the Southwest Virginia are that could help?

Boyd

Your computer shop either didn't have the correct information or didn't know what they were doing. You should not need to take your computer anywhere, this is really very simple stuff.

Try using Mapsource, Garmin's older software. Download/install here:

Mapsource should see all the same maps that are installed in Basecamp. Follow this tutorial to install the map on your GPS.
