HELP!!! WV ATV Trails 2018 Map
« on: May 23, 2018, 08:25:14 PM »
Bob T's maps are amazing, yet I can not get the WV ATV Trails 2018 Map to install on my Garmin.  I have a Garmin (Oregon 650t) and Basecamp is installed on my computer.  I downloaded the WV ATV Trails 2018 Map, and I am able to open it in Basecamp with no problem.
*I get an error that the image file is corrupt. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times.

Here are my steps - please tell me where I'm going wrong.

Once installed, I right click on my Garmin device in Basecamp and select install maps on Oregon 650t.  I've tried this on internal storage and memory card.  On the computer screen it seems to install.  I even get an installed successfully message. However, the WV ATV Trails 2018 Map does not appear in my internal storage folder under my Garmin device, and it doesn't appear under memory card.  So, obviously it doesn't appear on my Garmin. I've tried this over and over.  What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Boyd

My only thought is that JaVaWa has a couple very useful free programs that might help you diagnose the problem:

http://www.javawa.nl/gmtk_en.html
http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html

You could also try using Mapsource (Garmin's older software) to send the map and see if that makes any difference.

https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

Thinking some more.....

Do you have a lot of maps installed on the GPS? There is a "segment limit" for your device, and if you install too many maps you can exceed this. If that happens, some maps will not appear. The Javawa software will tell you the total number of segments in the device - if this number is greater than 3500, then that is likely the problem. The limit applies to all maps on both the card and internal memory. It doesn't matter whether the maps are enabled or not.

The only solution is to remove some of the maps until you are under the limit.
