Question about garmin ring 120

Can the topo maps be downloaded to the Garmin Rino 120? It is an older handheld unit.

According to this, yes you can load maps but it will be very limited with only 8mb of memory. That means you can only load a very small map. You will also need a computer with a serial interface or a USB to serial adapter.

Garmin's Basecamp software does not support serial devices, so you would need to use their older Mapsource software. If you haven't already installed that on your computer, that gets a bit more complicated but certainly can be done. I think most units from that era included a disk with either Mapsource or "Trip and Waypoint Manager" (or something like that).

Frankly, with only 8mb and a black and white 160x160 pixel screen I don't think it's worth much effort, but it's possible and you can get free maps here.. :)
