Good Day to All,
I've been plagued with a problem for quite some time now...creating .img files for my GPS unit. I have QGIS 2.14 and Garmin Basecamp but these two tools alone cannot produce the nice maps i see with gmapbmps.img or .img files in general for the Garmin gps units.

Firstly, i cannot seem to find a free version of cgpsmapper and in its absence i cannot find an alternative to create the .img files from my .mp files.

if anyone know of a free version kindly suggest same. Thanks.

Additionally, i have been able to open my country OSM map in basecamp but yet to successfully open same in QGIS despite going to OSMPlugin because that plugin just list things you can open instead of allowing me to select from my computer which OSM files i wish to open.

Any solution to this problem?

cGPSmapper is still available at web archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160817230334/http://cgpsmapper.com/

These are alternative compilers:

Opening OSM data in QGIS is 2 step process. You should use commands from menu Vector->OpenStreetMap. First "Import Topology from XML", then "Export Topology to SpatiaLite". For first step you need OSM data in XML format, these are file with extension *.osm. You can covert OSM data format using programs like osmosis or osmconverter.
