The original City Navigator map is a copyrighted Garmin product. Any discussion of ways to obtain copyrighted maps without purchasing them would be against site policy.

You could try calling (not e-mailing) Garmin support though. They have been known to help in this kind of situation, even when the device is out of warranty.

If all else fails you could install OpenStreetMap. It will not have all the capabilities of City Navigator, but it would be better than nothing. :)

It is worth trying to run MapUpdater or Garmin Express. I'm not sure if it still works, but some times ago I was able to restore old map on my nuvi.
