converting from .img files?

I was trying to convert some maps from .img files but I have no .typ file to enter into the field in the MapsetToolkit and now I am lost...Any ideas? The maps came from Freegeographytools.com and they were of the South East US... ???

definitely don't need a .typ file normally.

Also, that site links to this site a lot and the SE US has an installer so you don't need to use the .img files.  Just open mapsource and select the map in the upper left.
