Dem2topo tif -> Black screen?

New guy here.  I've downloaded the geotiff file I need, started Dem2topo, and followed the directions in the elevation section of the tutorial.  When I select the tif file the background of the workspace remains black.  I then selected the "Create .mp file" button and it's processing.  Nothing changes on the screen after I'm done.

Is this correct, or am I missing something?
