change Icons for way points, Nuvi 1450

I am just wondering if there is some trick to this,change Icons for way points, Nuvi 1450. I now where they are and have tried to change them a dozen times. But they still show on the map as a little black square.
  I have Nuvi 255w and it works just fine. I can change them anytime without a problem.

Unfortunately that's a bug that was introduced in one of the recent firmware updates for the 13x0 and 14x0 series. All your favorite (waypoint) icons turned into little black squares. Many people have reported this to Garmin, so they're aware, but there is considerable skepticism that they will ever fix this since they seem to have moved on to newer models.

In fact, with the announcement of their 2012 Nuvi units, Garmin is now classifying your 1450 as a "previous model": https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=402

You could contact them through their support site if you like - it can't hurt for more people to complain - but don't get your hopes up too high....
