Hello,

I downloaded the Oregon Topo map from this site for my Garmin Oregon 450. I was wondering if I can just hook up my GPS to the computer and drop the topo folder in the Garmin folder.

Thanks.

Boyd

Maps on the GPS are stored in a different format than needed on your computer. You need to download the Mac version of that map and install on the computer you want to use. If no Mac version is provided, you can install on a Windows machine and convert it for the Mac using Garmin's Mapconverter program.

I did download the Mac version on my Mac. So, can I just drop it into my GPS after I hook it up to the computer or do I need some software to accomplish that?

You will need to download BaseCamp for Macintosh and install that first. Then you will be able to install the mapset onto your Mac. Then you can load the maps to your Oregon.

Success! I got the Oregon Topo map downloaded then download Map Install and Map Manager from Garmin. I used those programs to get the general area of where I live on my GPS. Great.
