Basecamp/Track help

I tried creating a gpx file for a portion of trail I tracked with my GPS.  I used Basecamp to combine two sections of trail into one track.  My problem is that for some reason Basecamp keeps drawing a straight line from my starting point to my end point in addition to the actual track that I want.  How do I avoid that/remove this unwanted connection?

My bet is you did not join the correct ends of the tracks.  Try again and make sure you join the correct ends.
