How can I get sec.,twp.,rng. info on AZ topo and/or mapsource?

maps4gps

Use my PLSS overlay mapset - http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/399/
It will display on the GPSr 'on top of' the AZ topo.  Unfortunately there is no way to view two (or more) mapsets in MapSource or Basecamp.  See: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-to-load-maps-on-my-garmin-gps-unit/ for how to combine data from more than one mapset if you have an 'older' type unit.  For the 'newer' units, simply rename the gmapsupp.img file, az_topo.img or somename.img, then send the plss data and rename this new gmapsupp.img plss.img, etc.

Thanks for the info, I can't get the files to open though=get message that windows can't open this type of file ( I have XP)

You run/execute the downloaded .exe file.  It is self installing 'to' MapSource/BaseCamp same as the AZ topo was.

Bob's first post implies that he doesn't have mapsource installed ("and/or mapsource"). If that's true, he should uninstall the maps (using add/remove programs in Windows). Then do the following IN THIS EXACT ORDER

Download/install Basecamp: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435

Download/install Mapsource: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

Now re-install the map you downloaded and you should be good to go. But note, with Windows XP you need SP3 to use either Basecamp or Mapsource.

I took his first post to mean he already has the AZ topo and was looking to view PLSS data with that mapset, either on his GPSr or in MapSource.

reply # 5 was correct, I have mapsource loaded, I want PLSS overlays on AZ topos as well as map source, thanks

Thanks so much for the info, I now have PLSS on both mapsource and my gps

Just a thought as I have seen similar threads before, but can you load 2 maps on n-route?

Boyd

No you cannot. The interface is pretty much the same as Mapsource: you choose a "product" from a dropdown list and that's the map which is displayed.

MobilePC may be able to do this. It's is more like a standalone PND than mapsource and has a menu for choosing maps. See the info I posted in this thread about installing the free demo of MobilePC: http://forums.gpsfiledepot.com/index.php/topic,1920.0.html
