I just ran BaseCamp and it auto updated the software. After SW update, the program now doesn't run with error msg: BaseCamp.exe application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect"

Does anyone know what I should do fix the problem?

Thanks v much for any help!

Boyd

Never heard of that error.  ??? Mac or Windows version? You could start by reading Garmin's support forums here:

Mac: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171
Win: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=179

Thanks Boyd,

I went to recommended site and downloaded another copy of latest version of Base Camp SW. After some minor issues in doing this, I'm again able to run the program.

I wish there was some way to avoid the auto updates. I'm okay w/ the way software is working for me now. And I definitely don't the "look" of the update "imposed" on us a few months ago. And I would be horrified if I lost all of my hiking history now stored in BaseCamp due to some (unwanted) SW update problem.

You never said whether you're using a Mac or a PC...

There is a way to avoid auto updates. Click Tools > Options > Software Update and uncheck "Check automatically for updates". Even if you don't do this, the program will ask if you want to perform an update before it happens.

Back up you data with BaseCamp's backup feature. I did a backup this morning, and restored the backup onto another computer...

Hi There,

I have just come up with the same "side by side configuration" message as the user above. Could someone please tell me how to overcome it. I have tried downloading Basecamp_313 and installing over the previous version hoping this would rectify the problem with no joy. I am running a PC with Vista (why did I ever leave XP!!).

Kind regards, and hoping for a speedy response from someone more knowledgeable than me,

I have never had any issues with Basecamp on Windows Vista (64 bit). I know that earlier versions had some issues with 32 bit Vista however. I just updated to 3.13 and everything works fine.

I suggest you use he link posted above for Garmin's Windows Basecamp forum. The software developers are very active there and are usually able to resolve user problems. https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=179
