I thank you all for your input. I guess it comes down to personal preference. I have a geocaching friend with an Oregon so I'll try and borrow it for some geocaching excursions and see if I like it. I'm really in no hurry to get a new GPS and I'm putting money aside weekly for when I make a decision so $50 is not really an issue as far as the Oregon 550 vs the new Magellan. I will have to  check out the reviews of the new Magellans now. LOL!

Street price can be vastly different from list price on Garmin's site. REI had the Oregon 450 for $250 in their Labor Day sale. Over the Holidays we saw the Oregon 450 going for $270, and then as low as $230 at GPSCity.

If you decide on an Oregon, keep your eyes open for a sale, it could save you as much as $100.
