I'm just getting into making my own maps and I wanted to know if there is a way to incorporate a map I made in illustrator with vector graphics.  I've got all the roads and features of my map traced in layers - can I use this info to make a vector map or does it have to be rasterized?

It might be possible to import with a program like Globalmapper. But since it was created in Illustrator and not a GIS application, there won't be any georeferencing - the lines you drew will not be located on the face of the earth.

More likely than not, it will be easier to start over again.

Seldom

If Gtaglia can get it into vector a format that GM will import, like DXF or DWG, it can be rectified using  imagery like NAIP, or Terraserver to provide ground control points.  Of course, GM's not cheap.  Importing AI files has been on Mike's todo list for a couple of years, but I don't think it's working yet.
