CA roads and trails not showing up on venture hc

So I downloaded CA Topo maps and uploaded some to my Venture HC then went to a park and realized that the unit is only showing the topo data but not roads or steams or trails.
Detail is on "most"(detailed) and I zoomed in up to 20ft but no trails anywhere where I walked on that trail(6mile loop). Roads also aren't showing up aside for the ones on the base map. All of that data shows up in Mapsource so I am wondering what I overlooked somewhere.

In your map setup page, did you select your newly downloaded map to "show?"

That mapset contains two mapsets; one with topo, the other with everything else.
In one the quad/tile names are numeric, the other is alpha.
Are you seing both types in the quads/selected window?
Easiest to select a rectangle consisting of both by using the marquee tool;

Only the numeric ones are getting selected...Selected both... Uploaded...Everything shows up. Thank you.
