how to view map

I just got a garmin gpsmap 60csx a few  months back.  I had computer problems so am slow in getting it up and running.  I finally learned how to download a map into the gps.  Now when I go  to map page it starts by setting a route(road) from home to the map area I entered.

My question is how do I go directly to a map installed to the gps without starting at "home" and going cross country , in my case about 800 miles.  I am trying to set up some day trips, hikeing and road when we are on vacation late this fall.

Generally, you are going to want to do what you're doing on the computer, not the GPS. But if you put your GPS into demo mode, and then set your location to the area of interest, you can do it on the GPS. It's a lot more work to do it that way I would think.
