I made the mistake of buying the City Nav NT on a card when I bought my 60Cx thinking I could use it to navigate around Germany. My problem is I can't use Mapsource to plan my routes since the CN Europe will not be recognized on the card. Planning major road trips on the 60 Cx is just not convienent or practical. Is there a way to do may turn by turn routing before I go to Europe?

Yes, BaseCamp should be able to access the card map directly in the GPS. But it gets a little more complicated. This is done over USB and your GPS has USB 1.0 so it will probably be so slow as to be useless. I don't know if the card can be accessed if you place it in a fast USB 2.0 card reader as opposed to the GPS - give it a try.

If you have issues, then the best place for help will be Garmin's own Basecamp forums. The developers participate in these and have been very helpful. See: https://forums.garmin.com/index.php

Download the latest version of BaseCamp here for free: http://www8.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp

FWIW, Garmin's FAQ covers these usage issues - see the link "which version is best for me" on their product page: http://iqc.garmin.com/eCustomer/KODSelfService/request.do?create=kb:garmin&view%28%29=c{16315fb0-39b2-11de-5dd5-000000000000}

QuotePre-programmed datacards: Pre-programmed datacards are immediately ready to use. Simply unpack the card and insert it into your compatible GPS device. These maps do not need to be unlocked to your device which allows you to move the card to multiple units if desired, however you will not have access to the mapping on your computer. City Navigator maps in this format would need to be purchased separately when a new version is released.
