I just got a Garmin Oregon 400t which is my first GPS. I will be using it for hiking so I wanted some good topo maps. I found Northeast Topo United States Part 3 of 3 Map at http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/202/. I've downloaded it but cannot figure out how to install the maps to my GPS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

First off, you will need to have MapSource (assuming you have a Windows based system) installed on your computer to be able to install and load the maps. If it was not included with your GPS, follow both steps here:
http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-to-install-mapsource-if-it-didnt-come-with-your-gps/

Next, you will need to install the TOPO to your computer, it should include an installed, so just double click the download to start the install.

To install maps to your GPS, follow the tutorial here:
http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-to-load-maps-on-my-garmin-gps-unit/

If you get stuck somewhere, just ask. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I've tried this but the latest version of Mapsource does not have a drop down menu at the upper left corner (step 2 in the How to Load Maps On My Garmin tutorial). Do I need to install the maps to a specific directory for the to show up in mapsource? Thanks again for the help.

You can configure MapSource to move that dropdown, maybe even remove it. It the current version I have it floating over the mapview. If you have your's not displayed for some reason or another, go to the View Menu, select Switch To Product, and select an installed map. As for installing the map to your computer, best to just use the default directory the installer chooses.
