The 4 GB file limit causes a real one. You would still need more than one map.

General Discussion / Adding maps to Garmin 60csx

You need to install a card and then put the GPS into mass storage mode. The card will show up as a drive and Basecamp will see it and install the maps there.

You can also install directly to the card out of the computer.

Maps do not install to the GPS itself. Waypoints, tracks and routes are the only thing that install to internal memory.

An SD card that large can't be read on the etrex unless you somehow get it formatted in FAT32.

Search for a cities or whatever there.

Map Making Support / Re: Having Issues with Compiling
August 21, 2019, 11:38:41 AM
16 hours is crazy.  How big of a tile are you trying to compile?  You really do not want huge tiles as it will cause endless issues.

If you are using the current Basecamp it is broken and the map are not installed properly. You can read many threads on here about it.

You need to uninstall it and install an older version.

You just drag and drop to list onto the Nuvi in Basecamp.

Now if I can just figure out a way of loading multiple maps at once on the SD card.  ;D

You choose all of the map tiles you want first and then send them to the GPS.

You would need to copy the line(s) and paste into a new MP file. Then use a converter. There is one for MP to GPX.

I agree. Get a 61. I have one and it is really nice. There only differences with the 65 is the included traffic antenna as mentioned, 3D buildings and DEM shading.

If you want a built in camera consider a Nuvicam if you can find a refurbished one. They are really nice.

I'm not sure I understand what Boyd has against cameras.

I have a 64S with 5.10. All maps are working fine.

Just use Mapsource for loading maps. It is better for that purpose. Mapinstall was always crap.
