Site Support / Re: I cannot upload
July 17, 2013, 07:00:13 PM
I decided to check it out on my laptop.  I got warnings telling me it was unsafe and could allow someone to access my computer.  It was even requiring me to check a box accepting responsibility for any breach of security.  After the previous problems with this site, I do not feel confortable allowing the access, particularly without some vefification the site has not been hacked again.  Is there a new version?  If so, can we go back to the old version.  Any other way I can get my new versions of My Trails on the site?

I tried lowering my Java security setting and it did not help.  The last time I uploaded was may 14.  Did something get changed?  Like I said, the first time it asked a question and I don't remember what I chose.  Now it does not answer the question any more.

Internet Explorer.  I've uploaded numerous times previous to this with no problem.

I went to upload a new version of My Trails and I got a pop up message about Java (did not pay close attention) and selected don't warn me again.  Now the upload is not working.  The java thing that you use to upload does not start up and I don't get that warning message anymore.  It just goes to the upload page without the java application starting.

General Discussion / Re: Making a map of ATV trails

If you can make clean tracks of the trails, you can send them to me and I can add them to My Trails.

FYI My Trails has the exact same data.  We've been working together.

Maps have draw order.  Other than transparent maps like My Trails, only the enabled map with the highest draw order will be displayed.  Almost always City Navigator has the highest draw order.  So to see other topo maps (unless the are transprent like My Topos Transparent CO TOpo), you have to disable CN.

There is lots of conflicting data on the trail and the shelters.  And many times it is really hard to figure out which dataset is correct.  Sometimes it is just a bit off and other times the data sets show the AT way far apart.  In My Trails, I have done my best to figure out which is the most accurate data for the AT, shelters and parking.  But I can always use feed back from hikers if there are errors.

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Re: MAP INSTALL
May 03, 2012, 10:07:55 PM
That's interesting that it worked in mapsource and not mapinstall.  I always yse mapsource to install the maps.  I guess then I need to always make sure I run mapsettoolkit before creating the installer.  Sounds like basecamp is more sensative than mapsource.

Try it now.  I recompiled the mac and windows installer.

That error message happens if I forget to run mapsettoolkit before creating the installer and there has been too big of a change in the img files.  I thought I had a note on the page telling people to contact me if they get such an error message.  I do now.

Let me know if it fixes it.

I was not able to post on the forums (got times out) not send emails, messages or log out on IE or Firefox.  I tried clearing cache and history and still nothing.  I shut down IE and restarted it.  It then allowed me to log off and log back in.  It seems to be working now.

I would suggest until this gets fixed, put some simple hrml at gpsfiledepot.com stating the site has been hacked and the problem is being worked on, then give a link to the site and let people know which browsers work.
