You would need to move the map with the arrows over the zoom bar to get the US coverage.

Edit to add:

QuoteNote: Map update in process.
Check back after the update is done. Coverage is worldwide.

From what I've seen, it's on the server hosting the maps. Some people will have grief with them due to the size of the file download.

What is this updater program?
Maybe he means the MapSource software update that's built into MapSource. I have seen that not work.

is the .img file named as such: "12345678.img" Each file must have an 8 digit number as it's name to work.

UTM (Northern Hemisphere) -
If you mean the files from here: http://www.nysgis.state.ny.us/gisdata/inventories/
Then I would reproject the shapefile from UTM to geo/wgs84 to work with cGPSMapper.

What format were the co-ords of the shapefile in? UTM, geo or something else???
From the manual:
QuoteE017 Cannot parse coordinates. e.g. (2.3.4,2.2)

I just downloaded it and it was 1.0.9

I would first look into how I had my track logging set:

395 track points/8.08 Miles= 48.886138613861386138613861386139 points/Mile.

Well, they are embedded into the maps in the unit. To update the info, one goes here: http://mapreporter-test.navteq.com/dur-web-external/ and reports outdated info, and once they are updated, you load an updated map. Favorites are waypoints, so the lat/longs should be there when you upload that data to a computer but someone with a nĂ¼vi will have to clear this up for you.

When loading multiple maps to a unit, it's possible to exceed the earlier 2Gb limit. So you might have loaded 2.5Gb to a 4Gb datacard in a cardreader and thought you were fine. Problem was that the unit couldn't display any of the maps over the 2Gb limit. Something that people found out in the field... Ouch! From what I have heard, there is still a top limit of 2025 map segments the unit will address, but they may be, in total over 2Gb.

fixed typo...

This site will turn out to save me a hundred bucks if I can get the maps into basecamp and use vertical profiling.

Otherwise I feel obligated to bight the bullet for this feature.
If someone can tell me how to get the vertical profile I think I could even settle for something other than basecamp and donating part of what I would have spent.

None of the maps on this site are compatible with BaseCamp as none of them have the embedded .DEM info that is required.

To get vertical profiles, you can draw a track in MapSource, save the track as a .gpx file, and then upload it here: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/profile_input

I'm sure there are other ways that might be acceptable to you.
