GPSr Units / Annoying BRP Logo
November 26, 2015, 09:07:15 AM
As an option one can purchase a Garmin Montana, complete with a built-in mount, from Can Am when you buy their UTV machine.  Each time you start it the annoying "BRP" logo displays until all is loaded.  The unfortunate part is it partially hides the Start-up Text information we've added (Owner name & contact info).  Does anyone know how (if possible) one can rid us of this annoyance?  Any and all help is appreciated!

General Discussion / Unwanted Tracks
February 16, 2014, 03:57:35 PM
Why does my Montana show tracks from a Home Base location when the unit is not turned on until we arrive at a staging area? These tracks form a direct line-of-sight from Home Base to stage area.  Can eliminate in Mapsource but once reloaded back on Montana they reappear! :o

Thanks folks for your replies.  I guess I will (gulp!) contact Garmin for help on this matter!

Have a Montana 600 and attempted to both send and receive info from 2 other 600"s but all we got was "listening for another unit to begin sending (receiving) data" but never connected. All units were withing 'inches" of each other. Is there a "trick" to this???

Thanks Boyd! I bought the Garmin CD, and it came with all of North America (Canada / USA / Mexico). The detail I was refering to was when navigator is viewed in MapSource all streets are shown (at least in the city we live in...Calgary Ab.  Yet the version that wound up on my Montana only showed the main roads, no matter how far I zoomed in! If an address was plugged in that was off the main roads, it could not locate it!  The basic worldwide Basemap is disabled.
I read somewhere that if the unit doesn't have the required disc space the program will only load cursory program info???  Is there a way to delete maps like worldwide basemap?

Purchased and attempted to load City Navigator North America to my Garmin Montana but could not get the "detail" as displayed on the disc files.  Is there a trick to getting the detail?

GPSr Units / Re: Off-Road +++ GPSMAP Unit
November 26, 2011, 05:23:54 PM
Thanks for the suggestion Boyd.........will take your advice under consideration! Seems all the folks we off-road with have Lowrance units (5" square screens) but apparently Lowrance have discontinued supporting their off-road maps, hence why I am back with Garmin!  You are right, the garmin marine (& others) are somewhat pricey, especially if some of the features are not available.............dilemma.................dilemma!

GPSr Units / Off-Road +++ GPSMAP Unit
November 25, 2011, 04:13:41 PM
I need some help deciding which large screen Garmin product to get that will allow off-road use as well as the navigator mode for use in our RV.  Have been told the Marine-type units work well for off road (are water proof so should be dust proof) but some features outside the marine mode are rendered useless.  The GPSMAP 640 is an option but the smaller screen (4.5 x 2.7) is not attractive.  What do you folks out there suggest??  Appreciate any and all heDTATUUp!
