All is better in the world of tracking. All of the above post certainly helped. The resulting maps and trucks are really good thanks.

If you still get that straight line from the end of one to the start of the other, it can be edited in BaseCamp, too.

I was playing in BaseCamp and failed to find the appropriate tool for the job.  Any assist?  Thanks!!!

........Or maybe I need to reset and clear the current track before starting thenext.  Odd though.  The tracks on two consecutive days all tiend to my home, not the previous day on the Friday track.  It maybe that I am not clearing the previous track and as a result the unit continues to "track."So I will  assure that I am clearing the current track.

Hmmmm.  Is there a distinction between save portion and save track?  I am thinking that I am "saving current track" and I should be saving a portion?    I have been fussing with this for the last two weeks.  I am doing something dumb.    I thought  I was saving current track, turning the tracking to do not record and clearing the current track. I am doing something, definitely pilot error.   Upsetting in that I cannot clear the unwanted leg from the track to save the data on the track.  Any ideas to save the wanted and discard/erase the data beofre the start?  I tried editing out the straight line with BaseMap. There may be some option I just did not find the combination. I will keep after it.  Thanks for the tips.

GPSr Units / GPSmap 62 Track keeps tracking
May 14, 2012, 07:59:29 AM
All has been well in my tracking and mapping until...... The tracking feature does not reset.  So the last time I turn it on after using a track it records/tracks from the point of my home or some other waypoint to the track I am trying to save.  I have recorded dozens of tracks with the accompanying elevation profile for MTB trials and road bike routes -- all with no issues.  I know I have toggled some menu switch or another button combination and I cannot seem to get it correct.  Kind of maddening after 25 miles of MTB trial and 35 of road over the weekend to be corrupted by the strainght line track from my home to the starting point, 85 miles away as the missile flies.  Any ideas?  I have been through the track manager, map setup, waypoints, record show/do not show on map.  Thanks for any ideas.  heck I went to Youtube and watched a bunch of Vids with little real information. HELP!!!

GPSr Units / bicycle mounts you use?
March 14, 2012, 03:38:52 AM
I have a 62s that I take on my MTB rides. Past experience with Garmin's cable mounts resulted in a lost Colorado. I have modified the Garmin clip.with a.hose clamp.a better solution. RAM has solid mounts no doubt. I use one on my Zumo and it is great. The bike mounts seem to be proprietary junk...Garmin. or RAM's rock solid overkill. I have ordered Rams various cradle adapts for my 62s. The mapping detail from the 62s is great. I just do not want to lose my new toy. SO,What do you use on your bike?

Thanks.  I have got that dialed in.  Just wanted to keep some data.  Like, top speed, 582 MPH, highest elevation, non-aircraft, lowest point, Death Valley........  Those data points should be remembered not erased. Come on Garmin.  At least a  screen that records highs and lows.  I can mark a waypoint and it stays around.  Waaaay off topic.  I saw a techno gadget show last night that has a heads up display (HUD) that fits in ski goggles,  It is a GPS with a display screen and some bluetooth abilities linked to cell phones.  At the    end of the day, it has total vertical read out and the like to compare with techno buddies. Pretty sure the GPS will take care of this as well.

GPSr Units / 62S menu actions;
November 14, 2011, 12:58:17 PM
I now have the latest andgreatest, to me anyway, sitting on my desk and downloading maps and elevations.  I have the ETREX, retired after the Bulky ZUMO, for handheld ops was replaced with the Colorado.  The 62S does not offer a an on/off switch that I can find anyway on the trip Computer.  The Colorado, despite consuming batteries and having an all but invisible screen, had some redeeming features. Stopping the track and re=setting the fields of the trip Computer was great.  I want to STOP  the trip computer from constantly running. There must be an off somewhere.  I have menu>menu and pushed every combination of menu options.
Anyone know if there is 1) an on/off switch for the trip computer/tracks and 2) some way to adjust the re-set of the fields for the trip computer rather than re-setting the entire field???

 :(
I am completely bummed.  I did a dumb and dropped my Colrado after my MTB ride. The lost and found was probably not meant for GPS toys.  >:( The bad part is the loss.  The good , if there is any is that I am off to get a replacement. I still have my ETREX vintage 2004.  No way I can use that after using the Colorado's interface.    I am looking at the Garmin 62s maybe the T or C as well.  Here is what I am after.  Whether the 62  series will allow me to interface and download from the 62 the elevation profiles. I like to post the MTB trails as vertical elevations and miles.  Has anyone downloaded elev profiles from the Garmin software or web fro the 62.  Thanks!
