GPSr Units / nuvi500 or nuvi550

I bought a Nuvi 500 and I find the topo is poor.
the topos I see here are more like it.
Should I get the nuvi 550 with City Navigator and use
these topo. I guess what I am asking is are the 500 and 550
the same with deferent maps?
