I have the same problem but different.  I also have Windows 7 and Basecamp doesn't recognize the maps.  I don't want to use the MyTrails because I'm in Utah and it doesn't cover Utah.  I downloaded the Utah topo 2011 and can't get it to show on BaseCamp.  Any ideas??
