Thanks for the reply.  I'll try that but I would think there would be a way to clear it out so that if I forget to clear my current track right away it wouldn't show up next time I turn the unit on.

The problem only started showing up since I replaced my unit a couple of months back.  Prior to that I never had a problem with it.

My Oregon450 has resorted to adding the distance from the previous place I turned the unit on to my current track.  I have tried resetting the trip data and current track just before I start, I have taken the batteries out and put back in, then reset and I still get the same result.  Once I reset the trip computer shows 0 in the odometer but once I get started and look at the GPS, the mileage  adds on the distance from the last place that I used it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply.  I first exported my old file to the desktop as backup, renamed the file 'recently read from handheld' then plugged my new device into the imac.  To insure the new waypoints would not be overwritten, once they were 'read' into Basecamp I copied and pasted them into the renamed file then transferred that file back to my new unit.  Process worked and I now have all my waypoints and routes from both the old and new units in one file.

What may have complicated the process is I have new waypoints and routes on the new unit that I also want to keep.  Basically, I need to know if there is a way to sync the file I have in Basecamp with the new info I have on my new unit so that I can end up with 1 file containing old and new info.

Turns out my 450 was defective and was replaced with a new one.  I want to transfer all my waypoints and routes that I have in Basecamp on to the new unit but am afraid to plug in the new unit as I fear it may over write the old data.  What is the safest method for plugging in the new unit and recovering the files from my previous unit?

GPSr Units / Re: Maps not showing up on Oregon 450

Stopped back into REI and put my SD card into another 450 and found all the maps showing up.  They figured there was a defect in the unit and swapped it out with a new one.  The new one is working liking a charm :)

Thanks for the reply.

I do not have city navigator on my 450.  I have installed the mti_mn,  mti_wi, motopo and My Trails of a few different places along with the worldwide map that came with the unit.

I've tried different combinations of maps enabled and currently have only the wi tops enabled.  All I see on the screen is lakes, rivers and city names.

I've recently updated the software and have confirmed that I have the newest versions.  I checked and do have the gmapsupp.img file on my SD card.

GPSr Units / Maps not showing up on Oregon 450
October 16, 2012, 07:43:56 AM
I downloaded the Wisconsin and Minnesota topo maps, installed them on my oregon 450 but am not able to get them to show up.  I can enable/disable them from the set up menu and I have tried enabling only 1 at a time, in combination with the worldwide map that came with the unit or all on.  All of the maps show up in Basecamp on my mac.

I stopped into REI where I bought it from and the rep there said my problem was not having an SD card installed.  I bought a card, reinstalled all the maps onto the SD card but still unable to see any of the map features on my handheld.

What am I missing?
