I don't know if this has been discussed before, and sorry if it has - Has anyone made or know of satellite overlays that can work on a 60csx? If any of you have used it, is it any good? I am curious to know how useful this would be.
Satellite images are in raster format. Only the CO, OR & DK units support that file format.
You could view a satellite/raster image on your computer, draw polygons, lines and or points for features you see in the image, then convert these to an overlay/tranparent mapset to work on the non-CO,OR,DK units.
The closest you can get is a "fake raster" that uses MOAGU or MapWel to convert to a map and that can be kinda "blobby" or look pretty good but its very hit and miss.
Thanks for the info. I think I'll just stay with the sweet topos then.
I think that makes sense for your unit. If you decide you really want aerial imagery then sell the 60csx and get an Oregon or Dakota. Then you can simply subscribe to Garmin "BirdsEye" for $30/year, or make your own maps from aerials using the custom maps feature.
