Title: Newbie Question about external power
Post by: BeagleRunner on January 04, 2010, 07:13:57 PM
Hello everyone, I enjoy reading about maps and gps units and have learned a great deal here.

I just bought a Garmin astro 220 and love it for tracking my dogs. I can power it by the usb cable that came with the Garmin from my computer so i was wondering has anyone tried a blackberry car charger as it has the same end as the usb cable that came with my Garmin. I tried charging my blackberry with that cable and it works. I was a little afraid of screwing up so i thought i would ask here and maybe get an answer from someone who has tried it. Thanks in advance.

Transformer might even be overkill; I've built my own with just a voltage regulator which was like $2 at radio shack :)

The biggest problem you may have is that it'll go into computer mode (mine has done that with certain usb charging cords, no idea why).
