Title: Hiking Trails do not show up on GPS unit
Post by: hn on June 21, 2009, 01:05:16 AM
Hi, i have a question regarding the "california topo". This is a fantastic map, but i do have a small problem.

I uploaded it to my Garmin Etrex Legend (no other map on there). I see the route i created for Redwood Regional Park in the Bay Area, Contour lines and streets. However, the only thing i do not see are the hiking trails in the park.

I can see them on the map on the computer so i do not understand why i cannot see them on the GPS. I have set the detail level on the GPS to maximum, but still no trails. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Holger

How far have you zoomed in?  Normally you have to zoom to at least 800ft.  Do you see the trails on the California topo or some other garmin topo?

Hi, the garmin topo 2008 does not have any trails at all (so can't show them). I uploaded the california topo and zoomed in to 50 or 30ft - no trails. But as mentioned before i do see them on the PC when i set up my hike. Thanks, Holger

Can you take a screenshot of mapsource so I can see where you're looking?

Maybe even post the co-ords of where you are seeing the trail.
