Title: Satalite imagry on topo map.
Post by: wis_archer on May 07, 2009, 05:53:51 PM
I downloaded the NE USA Topo Part 1, and it is working great but....I've been thinking that since I have a 2gb chip in my gps used solely for storage of waypoints and maps, that I have a lot of room left!  And am wondering, is there a way that I can add satalite imagry onto the topo file so it will appear as the topo maps layed over the imagry?  Thank you very much.  If it matters the gps unit is a Garmin Vista HCx.

As of right now, no, no easy way.

You can kinda convert the image to a vector but its super slow and not that detailed.  That would require Mapwel or MOAGU.

Also, with that unit displaying of the maps would only work at walking speed.

And also you would want the vector overlay to be set as a transparent mapset. The Vista HCx wasn't designed with this in mind and has a processor to match.
