Title: Ability to convert and load terrain navagator to map 60csx
Post by: jimmynm on April 12, 2009, 07:56:48 AM
I have a terrain navagator map of our hunting area that I have added routes and waypoints.  I would like to load this map into my map 60 csx.  Can this be done and if so how ?  Thank you in advance for your help.

The routes and waypoints should be directly transferrable. Terrain Navigator maps are raster maps, made of individual pixels, and thus cannot be immediately transformed into Garmin-compatible maps. You have four choices:

- Buy a standard Garmin vector-based map, like Topo 2008 or the new 1:24K Garmin maps

- Find a free vector-based topo map on this site, or elsewhere

- Use the program Moagu (http://moagu.com) to convert raster maps into Garmin vector format. Works, but display speeds are slow.

- Use the program MapWel (http://mapwel.biz) to convert raster maps to vector format. Works, and display speeds are faster than Moagu for many maps. But for very detailed maps, and aerial photos, display speeds are a lot slower and detail is lost in the vectorization process.
