I'm off for a winter vacation after X-Mas and would like to get road maps for my Garmin Nuvi. Garmin doesn't make a map for Barbados. Does anyone have an idea where I can get one?

Should have thought of that one. That page has the tutorial I used when I started making maps. I note that none of the maps listed are routable, and it looks like the page hasn't been updated for a few years.
I don't think they've added a lot of roads to Barbados lately. ;)
If it was me, I'd just use sat photos. Or www.openroadjourney.com/

The problem in the US isn't roads, it's subdivisions, but you're probably right that there haven't been too many of those in Barbados since 2009.
