Title: Problems downloading maps
Post by: Utah400t on October 05, 2011, 11:10:56 AM
I tried to download MY Trails, West Virginia, Kentucky and I get the repsonse "these files will harm your computer" and it will not give me the option to accept at all.  No problem downloading Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming.  Any thoughts?
I'm hoping to find maps for the Appalachian Trail.

Those messages must be coming from your antivirus software, or maybe from security settings in your browser.

Turned off all security; firewalls, Anitvirus, etc
still getting the error which read   " this map is uncommonly downloaded and could harm your computer"  I just downloaded Hawaii with no issue, Montana and Arizona both a no go.

The reason some have that popup and others don't is the number of times they've been download.  The more downloads the more "approval" some security software will give it.  So, if a map has had a recent update you'll get the "could harm your computer" but that is because it is a .exe file.  If this is occuring in MSIE at the top just right click and say download anyway.

What browser are you using?

Just found, if I go to the ACTIONS option and click on MORE options other than delete it gave me the option to ACCEPT.
Thanks for your help
