Title: Garmin GPSMAP 220
Post by: Jerry49 on April 27, 2011, 07:02:02 PM
Greetings, I recently acquired a Garmin gpsmap model 220 chart plotter. This unit takes the old g charts which garmin doesn't support and the ones I have found are expensive.  I know next to nothing so if some of these questions are idiotic, please forgive. The unit does have a built in map of what looks like the world down to 60 mile resolution. Is it possible to find maps/charts on the internet that can be loaded into this unit?  The only two electronic  interfaces I know of are the cartridge slot and the serial cable. The cartridge slot has what looks to be 26 pins that connect to the card. Its not like a SD card that has about 7 contacts. I have found blank g cartridges that will fit the unit but since they have the name Garmin on them they too are expensive. Does anyone know of an aftermarket card that will fit the 220?

Thanks in advance
Jerry
